I am new to the book blogging community and your post really helped me a lot! I just started and have been looking to find information on how to write good reviews about the books I read, and I want to eventually be able to contact a few publishers and authors to receive books to read and write reviews about. The one thing I haven’t found though is do you need to own your domain to receive books to write about? Thank you for this post!

      Hi Marva,

Thanks for your comment! I wanted to do a little research and get back to you.
I do not think it really matters if you have a free domain (e.g. yourblog.wordpress.com). A fellow blogger and writer at Book Riot told me that, “I’ve been on WordPress.com for close to 10 years, and I don’t think it’s made a difference.”

A few book blogs that have free domains and receive ARCs include:

Ultimately, the most important thing to publishers is the content of your blog, how regularly you post, and if your blog has an active following. I listed those in order of importance, as I see it. The best thing you can do to get review copies from publishers is to write great content, including great book reviews.

Thanks for this great question! This subject would make a good topic for a future post. If you have any more questions, feel free to email me at: sarahsdaviswrites(at)gmail(dot)com.

      Happy reading!
